Demonstrating their commitment to public welfare, troops of the 23 Gemunu Watch organized a comprehensive cleanup program at the Palai Hospital premises on 23 April 2025.
The initiative aimed to enhance the cleanliness and hygiene standards of the hospital environment, greatly benefiting the local civilian population. Several civilians from the area also took part in the program, working alongside the troops to support the cause.
The program was organized under the leadership of Major E.A. Edirisinghe RWP RSP psc, the Commanding Officer of the 23rd Gemunu Watch Regiment. It was conducted under the guidance of Major General M.N. Fernando RSP, Commander of the 52 Infantry Division, and the supervision of Colonel J.A.C. Karunathilaka RSP USP, Commander of the 522 Infantry Brigade.
The effort was praised by hospital authorities and local residents alike, highlighting the positive impact of civil-military cooperation in community development efforts.
