“Strengthening Community Bonds Through Acts of Kindness” Offering Lunch to St. Terasa Elders Home and 150 Children in Kopay, Jaffna

In celebration of Sri Lanka’s 77th Independence Day, and in alignment with the vision of the General Officer Commanding of 51 Infantry Division, Major General MPNA Muthumala USP psc, a special community welfare initiative was conducted at St. Teresa Elders' Home on 04 February 2025.

The programme included a comprehensive cleaning campaign to enhance the living environment of the residents, followed by a heartwarming gesture of offering a wholesome lunch to 40 senior citizens. Demonstrating the Sri Lanka Army’s commitment to social responsibility, the Commander, Security Forces (Jaffna) Major General Manada Yahampath RWP RSP ndu psc graced the occasion as the Chief Guest, extending his support and appreciation for the initiative.

As a meaningful conclusion to the event, the Jaffna Commander, presented a special gift to the Elders' Home, aimed at improving its sanitary facilities and ensuring a healthier, more comfortable living space for its residents. This initiative not only honored the spirit of independence but also reinforced the values of compassion, respect, and service to the elderly community.

As the second phase of this noble initiative, a special lunch provided for the 150 children in the Kopay area, further strengthening the bond between the Sri Lanka Army and the local community with the presence of the Major General Manada Yahampath RWP RSP ndu psc, as the Chief Guest.

This heartfelt gesture not only provided nourishment to the young minds but also symbolized the Army’s unwavering commitment to fostering goodwill and harmony among the civil population. By extending their support beyond security duties, the Sri Lanka Army continues to bridge the gap between the military and civilians, reinforcing trust, mutual respect, and unity.

This initiative serves as a testament to the Army’s dedication to uplifting communities and ensuring a brighter future for the younger generation.
