Maj General Manjula Manatunga was enlisted to the Regular Force of the Sri Lanka Army on 01 October 1985 with SSC Intake - 7 and was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant on 31 May 1986 in the 4th Battalion of Gemunu Watch.
Maj General Manjula Manatunga is currently serving as the 4th Commandant of the RVAPL. He has followed Intelligence Course (India), Young Officers Course (India), and Junior Comdt Course (India), Disaster Management Course, Grading and Designing Course.
With wide experience and service, Maj General Manjula Manatunga has held many junior level command appointments to suit his rank and he has actively engaged in many of the key offensive and defensive operations carried out by the Army. However Maj General Manjula Manatunga was critically injured on 16 May 1993 while he was actively engage in operation “MUHUDU SULAN” in the Rank of Capt. Though this was badly affected to his carrier he was managed to overcome all the challengers and dedicated to promoted to the rank of Major, Lieutenant Colonel, Colonel and promoted to the rank of Brigadier on 01 October 2013, finally promoted to the rank of Major General with effect from 16 October 2018.
In addition, he has also held a variety of key staff and administrative appointments, including Commanding Officer - RHQ BN GW, Deputy Commandant - Ranaviru Sevana and Commandant - Ranaviru Resource Center.
He is a distinguished past product of Maliyadewa College in Kurunegala. Major Genaral Manjul Manatunga married to Nimali Manatunga and blessed with two sons and one daughter.
