The Sri Lanka Armoured Corps proudly commemorated its 70th Anniversary on 15 December 2025 at the Rock House Camp premises. In view of the recent natural disaster faced by the country, the programme was conducted in a modified and dignified manner, reflecting both restraint and respect. The occasion was graced by the Director General General Staff of the Sri Lanka Army and the Colonel Commandant of the Sri Lanka Armoured Corps Major General P R Pathiravithana USAWC psc, as the Chief Guest along with the President of the Armour Ladies’ Club Mrs. Summangali Pathiravithana.
The celebrations commenced with a Guard Turnout, followed by the laying of a floral wreath by the Colonel Commandant at the statue of the Father of the Corps, General Deshamanya D S Attygalle (Late) LVO idc psc. Thereafter, the Corps Day Parade was presented to the Colonel Commandant at the Parade Ground, symbolising the proud heritage, discipline and professionalism of the Sri Lanka Armoured Corps. Trophies awarded to units and recipients of the Colonel Commandant’s Honours were also presented during the ceremony.
Addressing the gathering, the Colonel Commandant emphasised the importance of continuous training, the preservation of armoured vehicles for future generations and the unwavering maintenance of military discipline. The programme concluded with an all-ranks tea. Retired senior officers, including Mrs. Lali Kobbekaduwa, senior officers and officers of the Corps with their spouses, as well as retired and serving SNCOs, NCOs, soldiers and civil servants of the Corps were present, making the event a meaningful and memorable milestone in the proud history of the Sri Lanka Armoured Corps.
