On 30th August 2025, under the guidance of Mrs. Sumangali Pathiravithana, Chairperson of SVB-SLAC, a welfare program was initiated by Mrs. Ashoka Wickramarachchi, Team Leader 7 Volunteer Regiment SLAC, at Demunnewa Primary School for students from low-income families. The program included activities designed to support and improve the well-being of the students and their families.
The event began with the planting and distribution of mango and coconut saplings, contributed by the Armoured Corps Training Center, 3 SLAC, and 7(V) SLAC. This was followed by a children’s movie screening, after which lunch was served to the students and teachers.
Each student received a package containing books, stationery, and clothing, while their families were provided with ration packs including dhal, sugar, biscuits, soaps, canned fish, and tea leaves. The program concluded with the distribution of sweet packs to the students.
The 7th Volunteer Regiment SLAC extended their support to successfully conduct the program. Around 20 members of SVB-SLAC, along with the Commanding Officer of 7(V) SLAC, officers, and other ranks participated in the event reaffirming the Sri Lanka Armoured Corps’ commitment to community welfare.
