The Sri Lanka Armoured Corps successfully held its first Officers’ Training Day of the 1st quarter 2025 on 26 March 2025, with the participation of over 100 officers across the Corps.
The day commenced with a morning PT session at the scenic Port City premises, setting the tone for a physically and mentally engaging programme. This was followed by a Drill session at Rock House ground, reinforcing discipline and precision.
Then, the focus shifted to public speaking, where young officers delivered 20-minute presentations on topics of their choice, showcasing their knowledge, confidence, and communication skills. After lunch, officers proceeded on an educational visit to the Sri Lanka Port Authority, gaining valuable insights into its strategic significance and operations.
The day concluded on a high note with a Dinner’s Club event, featuring a compelling address by Major General N Udawatta (Retd) WWV RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc Mphil. The topoc was 'Lessons from the Front Lines: High Intensity Battles and Leadership at the 59 Division' which provided a first-hand account of the final stages of the Sri Lankan Humanitarian War against the LTTE. His insights served as a remarkable eye-opener for the young officers, offering practical lessons in battlefield leadership and decision-making.
The Overlooking Commander Armoured Brigade and the Centre Commandant of the Sri Lanka Armoured Corps attended and supervised all events, ensuring the success of the Officers’ Training day. The Colonel Commandant has graced the Dinner’s Club being a fellow warrior who fought shoulder to shoulder with the guest speaker.
This event marked a significant step in the continuous professional development of SLAC officers, reinforcing the Corps' commitment to excellence and leadership.
