INAUGURAL OFFICIAL VISIT OF THE QUARTER MASTER GENERAL OF SRI LANKA ARMY & THE COLONEL COMMANDANT OF SRI LANKA ARMOURED CORPS TO 5 RECONNAISSANCE REGIMENT

On 2nd November 2024, Major General M S Devapriya USP ndc, the 15th Colonel Commandant of the Sri Lanka Armoured Corps, conducted his first official visit to the 5 Reconnaissance Regiment , where he commanded as the 9th Commanding Officer. This visit held particular significance, as it reflected both his legacy and the ongoing tradition of this prestigious Corps.

The day’s proceedings began with a guard turnout and formal group photograph, followed by a ceremonial tree planting and an All-Rank tea party, Commanding Officers' detailed briefing was followed by the Officers address of the Colonel Commandant. He shared insights drawn from his command experience, offering guidance and inspiration to the current leadership.

A centrepiece of the visit was Major General Sumith Devapriya’s inauguration of the "Cavalryman" Statue, a powerful tribute to the courage, history, and dedication of the Armoured Corps.

The Colonel Commandant concluded his visit with a camp visit, followed by the troop address where he highlighted the importance of the profession of a soldier, financial management and self-discipline. To remark on the visit, the Commanding Officer and All-Ranks of the 5 Reconnaissance Regiment presented a "Bonsai Tree".
