The 33rd Commemoration of the late Lieutenant General Denzil Kobbekaduwa was held on 8 August 2025 at the Denzil Kobbekaduwa Memorial Statue in Anuradhapura. The event was graced by the Director General General Staff of the Sri Lanka Army and Colonel Commandant of the Sri Lanka Armoured Corps, Major General P R Pathiravithana USAWC psc, as the Chief Guest. Madam Lali Kobbekaduwa, together with members of the Kobbekaduwa family, attended as special invitees. Council Members, Senior Officers, Commanding Officers, and other SLAC officers were also present, alongside invitees from the Police, Sister Services, and other military establishments in the Anuradhapura area.
The programme featured all customary events held in honour of the fallen General, including religious blessings and the ceremonial laying of floral wreaths at the memorial statue of the late Lieutenant General Denzil Kobbekaduwa. The solemn occasion paid tribute to the extraordinary service, leadership, and sacrifice of one of Sri Lanka’s most respected military leaders, whose legacy continues to inspire generations of officers and soldiers alike.
