HONOURING THE LEGENDS, FELICITATION CEROMONEY FOR MAJ AZAD A HAMEED (Retd)

On 12 Nov 2025, the Regimental Headquarters of the Sri Lanka Signal Corps proudly hosted a distinguished event to felicitate Maj Azad A Hameed (Retd). Maj Azad A Hameed joined the Sri Lanka Signal Corps in 1963 and served under Brig Frank Silva and Brig Lory Fernando. During his tenure he contributed at his Best to Sri Lanka Signal Corps in performing his duties as a Signaler.

This event was initiated by Brig KA Gnanaweera Rtd align with the 70th Anniversary Celebrations of SLASVA and conducted with the guidance of Colonel Commandant and Chief Signal Officer of Sri Lanka Army, Major General Sajith Liyanage USP nps psc.

The event began with a formal welcome extended by the present Colonel Commandant and those senior veterans presence are showcased powerful reminder of the leadership, dedication, and vision that have shaped the Signal Corps over the decades.

This was followed by a guided camp tour, including Lieutenant Colonel DV Brohier museum allowing the former leader to witness the advancements in operational readiness, infrastructure, and technological capabilities now in place.

The event concluded with a high tea at the Officers’ Mess, where bonds were reawakened, stories exchanged, and wisdom shared between the past and present leadership.

“Time with Legends” not only celebrated the proud traditions of the Sri Lanka Signal Corps but also reaffirmed the importance of intergenerational connection in building a resilient, forward-looking military force. It was a fitting tribute to the legacy of those who led before and a reminder of the high standards that continue to guide the Corps into the future.
