Major General GLSW Liyanage USP nps psc, the retiring Chief Signal Officer of Sri Lanka Army and the Colonel Commandant of Sri Lanka Signal Corps received a customary farewell on Tuesday 25 November 2025 at the RHQ SLSC, Panagoda before relinquishing his duties after an exemplary service more than 34 years.
The arriving Senior Officer was warmly welcomed by Brigadier RC Wijekoon USP psc, Centre Commandant of SLSC and was greeted with a Guard Turnout at the main entrance. Subsequently, he was invited to pay a floral tribute to the SLSC War Heroes' Monument and was ushered to the parade square to receive the honour of a ceremonial parade presented by the SLSC troops.
Afterwards, he posed for a group photograph with all Officers and took part in a tea arrangement at the Warrant Officers and Sergeants' Mess before he participated in an All-Ranks lunch where he addressed the troops.
Later on, he penned down some complimentary remarks on the visitor's book at the Colonel Commandant's Office and he symbolically handed over the Colonel Commandant’s cane to the incoming Colonel Commandant Brigadier KMG Bandaranayake USP ndc psc. Soon after, a street lining bade farewell to the retiring Senior Officer.
As dusk fell, a traditional Mess Night was hosted in the name of the retiring Major General GLSW Liyanage USP nps psc at the SLSC Officers' Mess.
