On 19 November 2025, the Seva Vanitha Branch of Sri Lanka Signal Corps conducted the inaugural Book Donation Programme under the esteemed guidance of Mrs. Ayesha Liyanage, President of the Seva Vanitha Branch – SLSC. The initiative reflects the Corps’ continued commitment to supporting the educational welfare of its extended family.
The objective of the programme was to distribute the complete set of books required for children enrolling in Grade 1 in 2026. In addition to the books, each child received a school bag and a pair of school shoes, ensuring they are fully equipped both academically and practically for the beginning of their schooling.
A symbolic inaugural ceremony was held with the participation of 30 students, representing all units of the Sri Lanka Signal Corps. Their presence highlighted the inclusive and Corps-wide nature of the initiative.
Sponsorship for the inaugural session of the programme was generously provided by Major General Nilantha Hettiarchchi (Retd) VSV USP psc Hdmc. His support—together with that of his benefactors, Mr. Kosala Alagiyawanna, Mrs. Amila Alagiyawanna, Mr. Sumith Fonseka, and Mrs. Shyama Fonseka—played a pivotal role in enabling the distribution of educational materials, school bags, and with the generous support of DSI Samson Group, pairs of shoes were donated to the children.
This inaugural event reaffirms the Sri Lanka Signal Corps’ dedication to the well-being of its personnel and their families. By investing in the educational readiness of students, the Corps demonstrates its enduring commitment to nurturing future generations and strengthening its community.
