Brigadier PHN Chandrasekara assumed duties as the 29th Centre Commandant of Sri Lanka Signal Corps on 01st Jan 2026 at Signal Regimental Centre, Panagoda. Upon arrival of newly appointed Centre Commandant reviewed the Guard Turnout at the main entrance according to the military formalities. Adding pride of place to the memory of all fallen War Heroes of SLSC, Brigadier Nimal Chandrasekara laid a floral wreath at the War Heroes' monument and paid his tribute in a solemn ceremony.
Later, the Parade Commander invited the day's protagonist to review the Ceremonial Parade, accorded in his honour and received the salute from the special dais. Soon after the parade, the new Centre Commandant symbolically placed his signature on an official document to mark the assumed of duties, amidst religious observances at his office. After that Brigadier Nimal Chandrasekara attended to All Ranks' Tea at the NCOs’ Club, where he made a brief interaction with the audience.
Subsequently, setting out his scope of work and duties, Brigadier Nimal Chandrasekara addressed troops serving in the Regimental Center and insisted them to work through patriotism, discipline, loyalty, honest, respect and knowledge. The day’s event concluded with posing a group photograph with the staff of Regimental Centre to add much more memories to the military ceremony.
