Major General Sajith Liyanage USP nps psc, the Chief Signal Officer of the Sri Lanka Army and the Colonel Commandant of the Sri Lanka Signal Corps (SLSC), made his inaugural official visit to the School of Signals on 16 May 2025 in par with the passing out ceremony of the Basic Certificate in Information and Communication Technology Course No 132 where Fifty-four recruits received their Signal insignia.
The Colonel Commandant graced the passing out ceremony as the Chief Guest accompanied by the Commander - 2 Signal Brigade and the Regimental Centre Commandant by accepting the invitation by the Commandant of the School of Signals, Colonel MR Hameem USP.
The days proceedings commenced with the passing out parade where S/288760 Signalman Pathum PAD was awarded as the First in Order of Merit student of the course. The Chief Guest congratulated the new signalers whilst adding his invaluable advice for the betterment of their future professional endeavors during his speech at the parade. Following the parade, the Chief Signal Officer posed for group photographs with the passing out students as well as the permanent staff of the school.
Subsequently, the students presented practical demonstrations on Computer Networks, CCTV Systems, Telephone Network and Radio Communications to the Chief guest and senior officers which was highly commended.
After hosting the Colonel Commandant and all guests for refreshments, Colonel Commandant addressed all ranks where he shared important insights as to how to think differently and to bear pride of being a signaler. Thereafter, the Commandant of the School of Signals did a comprehensive briefing to the Colonel Commandant covering Training, Administrative, Logistical and Welfare matters of the School of Signals.
Finally, the Colonel Commandant and other invited senior officers were hosted for lunch at the officers’ mess after which the Chief Guest penned down his thoughts in the Visitors’ Book marking the culmination of the days proceedings.
