The Sri Lanka Signal Corps successfully conducted its colours awarding ceremony, with the presence of Chief of Staff of the Sri Lanka Army, Major General DKSK Dolage USP nps psc, at the Grand Maitland Banquet Hall. The event celebrated years of dedicated athletic excellence with the regiment, honouring those who brought credit to the corps through outstanding performance in various sporting categories.
The Sri Lanka Signal Corps has steadily built a strong reputation not only in military excellence but also in the field of sports as well. Throughout its history, the Corps has nurtured disciplined, high-performing athletes who have contributed significantly in International, National, Defence Services and Inter Regiment games. The Regiment’s sports structure has evolved into a well-organized system comprising individual, team, and combat sport categories, each supported through coaching, facilities, and systematic training programmes.
In recognition of these achievements from 2013 to 2025, the Sri Lanka Signal Corps presented the Sports Colours for 267 recipients, both serving and retired who performed with distinction and excelled at International, National, Defence Services and Inter Regiment games.
At the end of the awarding ceremony special cash cheques valued at Rs 50,000 each were presented to Corporal M Y F Safiya and Corporal D T A De Silva in recognition of their outstanding achievements at the 4th South Asian Senior Athletics Championship 2025 held in Ranchi, India. The ceremony acknowledges outstanding talent, dedication, and discipline, while encouraging future athletes to pursue excellence in their respective fields.
The ceremony also highlighted the Corps’ investment in sports development, enhanced training environments, specialized instructors, and continuous support from the Sri Lanka Army Directorate of Sports.
