In parallel with the 78th National Independence Day celebrations, the 9th Battalion of the Sri Lanka National Guard, under the 57 Infantry Division, conducted a social welfare programme to support low income families of the Alakoladeniya GN Division.
During the programme, dry ration packs were distributed to needy families residing in the Alakoladeniya GN Division. The initiative was taken by the Commanding Officer of 9th Battalion of the Sri Lanka National Guard, with the active contribution of all Officers and Other Ranks of the Battalion.
The programme aimed to strengthen the bond between the Army and the civilian community. Such welfare activities demonstrate the Sri Lanka Army’s continued commitment to serving the nation beyond its primary duties, especially during significant national occasions.
