ROSHAN MAHANAMA FOUNDATION AND ARMY TROOPS HAND OVER NEWLY BUILT HOUSE TO A NEEDY FAMILY IN NARAMMALA

Under the concept of the Commander of the Army to uplift the living standards of underprivileged families, a fully equipped new house was constructed and ceremonially handed over to Ms M W S Priyanthi, a needy resident of Dematagahawela, Narammala, located within the Area of Responsibility (AOR) of the 9 Battalion Sri Lanka National Guard (9 SLNG). The project was successfully completed through the generous financial contribution of Mr A B Dean, coordinated by the Roshan Mahanama Foundation, and with the dedicated assistance of Sri Lanka Army troops.

The initiative was carried out under the guidance and leadership of the Commander Security Forces (West), the General Officer Commanding 57 Infantry Division, and the Commander 571 Infantry Brigade. Overall supervision was provided by the Commanding Officer of the 9 Battalion Sri Lanka National Guard, while troops from the 9 SLNG and the Engineer Services Regiment (1ESR), Kurunegala, operating under the 57 Infantry Division, were actively engaged in the construction work. Their collective effort ensured the timely and high quality completion of the project.

The house was built on a 4.2 perch plot of land, with construction commencing on 07 August 2025 and successfully completed on 22 October 2025. The fully furnished home included all essential facilities, provided to Ms. Priyanthi and her family with a safe and comfortable living environment.

The official handover ceremony took place at 1002 hours on 13 November 2025 with the participation of renowned cricketer and founder of the Roshan Mahanama Foundation, Mr. Roshan Mahanama, and his spouse, Mr A B Dean and his spouse, who provided financial support, Major General Kumudu Perera (Retired), the Commander 571 Infantry Brigade, the Commanding Officer of 9 SLNG, and the Grama Niladhari of Narammala. The event was conducted with full religious observances, invoking blessings for the new homeowners and all contributors to the project.

This noble initiative stands as yet another testament to the Army’s continued commitment to community welfare and its partnership with civil organizations in uplifting the lives of deserving citizens across the country.
