A sudden fire broke out at an electrical equipment shop located within a building owned by the Ambalangoda Pradeshiya Sabha was successfully brought under control on 09 November 2025 through the prompt response of 573 Infantry Brigade troops operating under the 61 Infantry Division and SFHQ (West).
The fire, which started around 1115 hr had spread to nearly 12 nearby shops. Under the supervision and guidance of the Commander 573 Infantry Brigade, troops from 20 SLLI, 2 (V) GW and 573 Bde HQ assisted the DMC - Galle, Fire Brigade - Galle, Sri Lanka Navy Fire Unit, Ambalangoda Urban Council, police and STF in extinguishing the blaze by 1245 hr.
