A TRADITION OF EXCELLENCE: SFHQ (WEST) MARKS 12 YEARS WITH MILITARY PRIDE

In a splendid display of military tradition and pride, the Security Forces Headquarters (West) marked its 12th anniversary on November 19th with a grand ceremonial parade. Held at the SFHQ (West) premises in Panagoda, the event stood out as the highlight of the anniversary festivities, adding grandeur and patriotic fervor to this significant milestone.

Major General Lanka Amarapala RWP RSP ndc psc, Commander Security Forces (West), graced the occasion as the Chief Guest, bringing prestige to the celebration. Upon his arrival, he was warmly welcomed by Brigadier B.P.G.K. Balasooriya RSP psc, Brigadier General Staff, and Brigadier K.L. Munasinghe USP, Brigadier Administration and Quartering.

In keeping with military tradition, Major General Lanka Amarapala was accorded a formal Guard Turnout and received the salute from a ceremonial Guard of Honour by the 1st Field Engineer Regiment. This grand ceremonial parade was a fitting tribute to SFHQ (West) 's legacy and achievements over the past 12 years, symbolizing its continued commitment to the nation.

Following the day’s military customs, Commander Security Forces (West), posed for a group photograph with All Ranks adding the day’s importance to its unique memory lane. Adding further value to the commemoration, Major General Lanka Amarapala planted a mango (Mangifera indica) sapling in the SFHQ (West) premises symbolising the growth, renewal, and commitment of the Security Forces (West) to the future needs of the nation
