The Training of Trainees (ToT) Program prior to the Clean Sri Lanka Project - Stage II officially commenced on 24 March 2025, with a remarkable opening ceremony held at the Corps of Engineer Services Lecture Hall. The program aimed to equip the participants with a comprehensive understanding of the Clean Sri Lanka Project, a significant initiative focused on enhancing cleanliness and environmental sustainability across the country. This training was conducted under the expert leadership and guidance of Commander Security Forces (West), Major General U K D D P Udugama RWP RSP USP ndc psc, whose valuable insights and extensive experience greatly contributed to the success of the program.
The ToT program was designed to address the growing need for skilled professionals who can effectively contribute to national development efforts in the context of environmental cleanliness and management. It provided participants with essential knowledge and practical skills needed for the successful execution of various components of the Clean Sri Lanka Project. The training sessions covered both theoretical and hands-on aspects, ensuring that participants gained a holistic understanding of the project’s scope and impact.
A total of 30 x Officers from various backgrounds joined the program, each demonstrating their dedication to the advancement of the nation’s environmental objectives. These officers, through their active participation, exhibited a strong commitment to contributing to the national development goals and supporting the environmental sustainability efforts of the government.
The program was structured in two phases including a two -day lecture series and a three -day practical training component. During the lecture phase, participants engaged in in-depth discussions and presentations on the various aspects of the Clean Sri Lanka project. The practical phase allowed participants to apply the knowledge gained through real-world exercises, working closely with experts to execute tasks related to waste management, clean-up operations, and environmental monitoring.
The program successfully concluded on 28 March 2025, after a week of intensive learning and practical engagement. The officers completed the program with a renewed sense of responsibility and readiness to take on leadership roles in promoting and implementing the Clean Sri Lanka Project in their respective areas. Their participation in this program signifies a strong commitment to upholding the values of environmental sustainability and contributing to the overall well-being of the nation.
