Under the guidance of General Officer Commanding 61 Infantry Division, Major General W S V Fernando USP ndc IG, a one-day computer training workshop on emerging information-technology trends was conducted on Wednesday, 24 September 2025 at the Informatics Institute of Technology (IIT) – Galle centre. The programme aimed to strengthen digital literacy and boost the professional use of contemporary IT tools among military personnel of the 61 Infantry Division and its under command Bde and Battalion.
The workshop delivered practical, illustrated sessions covering key current technologies and productivity platforms, including artificial intelligence (AI) applications, Google workplace tools, LinkedIn best practices, ChatGPT, and Canva. Presenters demonstrated real-world use cases and step-by-step techniques to help participants adopt these tools for administrative, professional-development and personal productivity purposes.
A total of 23 officers and 34 other ranks from the 61 Infantry Division and its subordinate units attended the training. Participants engaged in hands-on exercises and interactive demonstrations designed to translate the day’s learning into immediate on-duty benefits.
