CONDUCTING DISASTER MANAGEMENT WORKSHOP AT THE 57 INFANTRY DIVISION

Under the initiative of the Commander Security Forces (West), Major General UKDDP Udugama RWP RSP USP ndc psc, and the close supervision of the General Officer Commanding - 57 Infantry Division, Major General KDML Samaradiwakara RWP RSP ndc psc, a three-day Disaster Management Response Workshop was held at the 1st Regiment Sri Lanka National Guard from 01 April 2025 to 03 April 2025.

A total of 05 x 125 troops, with 01 x 25 participants from each of the under-command battalions took part in the workshop. Additionally, six instructors from the Sri Lanka Army Centre for Disaster Response Training provided invaluable assistance, contributing to the successful completion of the event and the achievement of its objectives. These instructors led both theoretical lectures and practical sessions on various aspects of disaster management.

Upon the successful completion of the workshop, Student Officers and Other Ranks conducted a demonstration on how to carry out water rescue missions. The event concluded with a certification ceremony, where all participants as well as the instructors were awarded certificates by the General Officer Commanding - 57 Infantry Division. The Commander of the 571 Infantry Brigade, Commanding Officers, and senior staff officers from the division also attended this significant milestone event.
