Major General Lanka Amarapala, RWP RSP ndc psc, Commander Security Forces (West) conducted an official visit to the 1st Sri Lanka Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (1 SLEME) on 24th December.
Upon his arrival, Major General Lanka Amarapala was honored with a ceremonial drive-past and warmly received by the Commanding Officer, Major S M A D C M Sammandapperuma USP Lsc SLEME. The visit commenced with a comprehensive briefing by the Commanding Officer, outlining the unit's responsibilities and ongoing projects. Following the briefing, a group photograph was taken to commemorate the occasion.
Addressing the troops, which included members of the Sri Lanka Army Service Corps and the Sri Lanka Electrical and Mechanical Engineers, Major General Lanka Amarapala emphasized the critical importance of professionalism, efficiency, and accountability in fulfilling military duties. He highlighted the value of training programs in enhancing soldiers' skills and maintaining discipline. He also commended the officers and soldiers for their exemplary contributions during the war period from 1983 to 2009, recognizing their significant role in advancing the armed forces.
Major General Lanka Amarapala stressed the necessity of strengthening personal and organizational discipline, avoiding illegal activities, minimizing absenteeism, and actively supporting the government’s "Clean Sri Lanka" initiative. He expressed his commitment to aligning with this national theme by promoting clean mindsets, fostering positive attitudes, ensuring quality work, achieving maximum efficiency, and eradicating fraud and financial misconduct.
During the visit, Commander Security Forces (West) inspected the camp premises and the SLEME workshop, engaging with officers and staff to assess operational readiness and capabilities. He also took the opportunity to interact with personnel throughout his visit. The visit concluded with Major General Lanka Amarapala signing the Visitors’ Book, where he expressed his appreciation for the battalion's dedication and achievements.
