THE COMMANDER SECURITY FORCES (WEST), CONDUCTS AN OFFICIAL VISIT TO THE 612 INFANTRY BRIGADE

Major General Lanka Amarapala, RWP RSP ndc psc, the Commander Security Forces (West), made an official visit to the 612 Infantry Brigade on 11th November.

Upon arrival at the Brigade Headquarters in Pelawatta, Major General Lanka Amarapala was received with a ceremonial guard turnout and warmly welcomed by the General Officer Commanding 14 Infantry Division and Commander of the 612 Infantry Brigade. The day’s proceedings commenced with the Commander planting a sapling at the Brigade’s headquarters, symbolizing the occasion. This was followed by a comprehensive briefing from the Commander 612 Infantry Brigade on the operational role, responsibilities, and current situation within the Brigade’s Area of Responsibility. Major General Lanka Amarapala left a note in the Visitors’ Book before proceeding to the 1st Battalion Sri Lanka Army Pioneer Corps.

During his visit to the 1st Battalion Sri Lanka Army Pioneer Corps, Major General Lanka Amarapala planted another sapling and addressed the troops, emphasizing the importance of maintaining discipline, abstaining from illegal activities, and recognizing their critical role in upholding national security. He commended the troops on their dedication and professionalism and later joined them for an All-Ranks tea. Before departing, he shared his reflections in the Battalion’s Visitors’ Book.

Subsequently, the Commander visited the 9th Battalion, Gemunu Watch, where he received a ceremonial drive-past welcome. He paid tribute to the War Memorial with a floral offering in honor of fallen heroes and marked his visit by planting a sapling at the battalion's headquarters. His visit concluded with a complimentary message in the visitors’ book of the Battalion.
