Lieutenant General B K G M L Rodrigo RSP ctf-ndu psc IG, the Commander of the Army paid an official visit to the Security Forces Headquarters (West) on 18 and 21 March 2025, engaging in a series of significant events aimed at enhancing operational efficiency, welfare, and infrastructure development of SFHQ (West).
Upon his arrival, he was warmly welcomed by the Commander, Security Forces (West). The visit commenced with a Guard Turnout, followed by a planting of sapling, symbolizing the Army's commitment to environmental conservation. A group photograph was taken to mark the occasion. The staff officers of SFHQ (West) delivered a comprehensive briefing on operational, administrative, and logistical aspects of the Security Forces (West) on 18 Mar 2025.
During the troops address the Commander of the Army emphasized several key aspects including the importance of maintaining discipline, upholding the dignity of the Army, fulfilling duty commitments and ensuring national security and he specifically mentioned that true citizens are those who lead their lives with knowledge, skills and a deep sense of responsibility towards society. He also highlighted the significance of effective resource management, physical fitness and the responsibilities of military personal towards the Clean Sri Lanka program. The visit concluded with an All Rank Tea and an All Rank lunch, fostering camaraderie among the All Ranks.
The second phase of the visit on 21 March 2025 focused on inspecting critical military facilities. The Commander was welcomed by the Log Comd & BGS of SF (West) and Comd first toured the Central Arms Depot at Panagoda, assessing its operations and security protocols. Then he visited the Army Base Hospital, interacting with medical personnel and inquiring about the healthcare services provided to the military personnel. Afterwards, he visited the Army Sports Village, Panagoda. This was followed by a high tea at the Commander Security Forces (West) office premises, after that the Commander of the Army signed the visitors' book, marking his visit and expressing his appreciation towards the dedication and commitment of the Security Forces Headquarters (West).
The visit concluded with a field visit of the Kendalanda Officers' Married Quarters, emphasizing the welfare and living condition of the Officers and their families.
The event was attended by the Logistic Commander of SFHQ (West), General Officers Commandings, Brigade Commanders, All Staff Officers of SFHQ (West), Commanding Officers, Officers and Other Ranks, marking a significant engagement in strengthening military cohesion and operational effectiveness.
