Sri Lanka Army troops from the 8th Battalion Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment (8 SLSR) were deployed to support recovery operations following a train derailment at Ihala Kotte.
At around 0800 hours on 21 October 2025, a team of 20 personnel from 8 SLSR reported to the Ihala Kotte Railway Station in the Kegalle District to assist in clearing and restoring the derailed railway track. The troops are working closely with railway authorities to remove debris, repair the affected section, and ensure the safe resumption of train services.
This timely intervention once again reflects the Sri Lanka Army’s dedication to supporting civil authorities during emergencies and contributing to the swift restoration of essential public services.
