In commemoration of the 78th National Independence Day, the 611 Infantry Brigade together with the 8th Battalion Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment organized a community welfare programme by providing lunch to the residents of the Medhananda Elders’ Home at Galigamuwa Divisional Secretariat area on 4 February 2026.
A lunch was served to all residents and an entertainment session was also organized bringing joy and warmth to the elderly. The residents appreciated the kind gesture and the event strengthened the bond between the Sri Lanka Army and the local community.
The initiative was accommodated with the directions of General Officer Commanding of 57 Infantry Division and Commander 611 Infantry Brigade.
