Due to adverse weather conditions affecting the SF (West) AOR, troops from the 57 Infantry Division successfully conducted a rescue operation on 28th November 2024, saving three individuals stranded by floodwaters in the Welpothuwewa Grama Niladhari Division, within the Kobeigane Divisional Secretariat area.
A team of 02 X 24 Army personnel from the 1st Battalion Sri Lanka National Guard participated in the mission, utilizing one boat, one light vehicle, one heavy vehicle, and a set of specialized search and rescue tools.
The operation was carried out under the close supervision of the General Officer Commanding 57 Infantry Division, Major General W M P M Wijesooriya RWP RSP ndu, ensuring the successful rescue of the stranded individuals and reaffirming the military’s commitment to assisting civilians during emergencies.
