A significant donation program was conducted on 20th December 2024 to support 18 residents of the “Nirmala Maatha” Senior Citizens’ Home, located in the Wanathavilluwa Divisional Secretariat Division in the Puttalam District. This compassionate initiative was organized under the guidance of the Commander of the 57 Infantry Division and the close supervision of Brigadier K A D T P Wimalasena RWP RSP, the Commander 143 Infantry Brigade.
The program was executed by the 16th Battalion, Gajaba Regiment, led by its Commanding Officer, Major D M A U Dissanayake RSP GR, along with a dedicated team of 15 personnel, including Officers and Other Ranks. The event aimed to provide essential support and care to the elderly residents of the home while fostering goodwill and strengthening the Army’s commitment to community welfare.
The donation program included the distribution of essential items, food supplies, and other provisions required for the daily needs of the senior citizens. Additionally, the team spent time with the residents, offering emotional support and engaging in friendly conversations, which brought smiles and joy to the elderly individuals.
