Major General KTP De Silva RSP ndu psc, the Commander Security Forces (Jaffna) marked his maiden visit to Headquarters 52 Infantry Division at Mirisuvil on 05 February 2026 after assumption of his duties.
Upon arrival, the Commander Security Forces (Jaffna) was honoured with a Guard Turnout. Subsequently, the Commander was warmly welcomed by Major General MN Fernando RSP, the General Officer Commanding 52 Infantry Division, along with Senior Officers and Officers of the formation.
During the visit, the Commander Security Forces (Jaffna) posed for a group photograph with the divisional staff. Afterwards, the General Officer Commanding briefed him on the Area of Responsibility and current operational duties. Then he planted a sapling.
Addressing the assembled troops, Commander Security Forces (Jaffna) emphasized the strategic importance of maintaining a vital military presence in Northern Province to ensure long term peace and stability. He underscored the need to respect the unique culture and traditions of the Northern Province while executing military responsibilities in a manner that safeguards civilian life and harmony. He also highlighted the significance of discipline, professionalism, and maintaining balanced military and civilian activities.
As part of his field visit programme, the Commander visited Brigades, Battalions of 52 Infantry Division. During these visits, he held interactive sessions with Officers and Other Ranks, providing an opportunity to discuss matters relating to troop welfare. He stressed the necessity of enhancing sanitary facilities, accommodation standards, and overall living conditions of personnel serving in the area.
Brigadier General Staff of Security Forces (Jaffna), Logistic Commander Security Forces (Jaffna) along with Brigade Commanders, Commanding Officers, Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks serving under 52 Infantry Division took part in these events.
