The 51 Infantry Division conducted a blood donation campaign on 04 February 2026 at Division Headquarters, organised in conjunction with the 78th Independence Day celebrations. The operation was executed under the direction of Security Forces Headquarters (Jaffna) and the 51 Infantry Division, with the primary objective of addressing critical blood shortages affecting healthcare facilities across the northern region.
122 Personnel from all subordinate Brigades and Battalions under divisional command participated in the blood donation programme, which was presided over by the General Officer Commanding 51 Infantry Division, Major General MR Razick RSP ndu. The programme was conducted at a time of critical need for blood supplies in the region. The Jaffna Cluster Centre at Teaching Hospital Jaffna served as the designated collection point, with Dr K. Sribaskaran and his medical staff providing clinical assistance throughout the operation. This coordinated effort between military and national medical infrastructure ensured efficient processing of donations whilst maintaining required medical protocols and safety standards throughout the campaign.
Seven healthcare facilities were designated as beneficiary stations for the blood collected during the operation. These included Teaching Hospital Jaffna, Base Hospital Thelippalai, Base Hospital Point Pedro, General Hospital Kilinochchi, General Hospital Mullaitivu and the Thelippalai Cancer Hospital. The donations will directly support emergency medical services, surgical procedures, oncological treatments and routine transfusion requirements across these geographically dispersed facilities. The campaign demonstrates the commitment of the Army to national healthcare requirements within its operational area.
