In celebration of Thai Pongal Day on 15 January 2026 a comprehensive cleaning program was conducted at the "Lakshmana Vairavil" Kovil premises. The initiative took place within the KN/80 Muhavil GN Div, spearheaded by the 1 MIR with the active support and participation of local residents.
The program was organized by Lieutenant Colonel HGE Hapukotuwa USP Commanding Officer of the 1 MIR. This civil coordination initiative was carried out under the formal guidance and supervision of Major General MN Fernando RSP Commander of the 52 Infantry Division and Brigadier JAC Karunathilaka RSP USP Brigade Commander of the 522 Infantry Brigade. This community outreach project aims to foster religious harmony and strengthen the bond between the security forces and the civilian population during this auspicious cultural festival.
