Provide Sanitary Toilet Facilities to Low - Income Civilian Families

In line with the concept of the Clean Sri Lanka Programme implemented by the current government, a special initiative was launched to provide toilet facilities to civilians from low-income families. The project was carrying out in the Velvetiturei area of the Jaffna District, which is identified as one of the regions in Sri Lanka with the lowest availability of sanitation facilities.

Under this initiative, toilets will be constructed and handed over to low-income families who previously did not have access to proper sanitation. The project was implemented under the instructions and guidance of the Commander 521 Infantry Brigade, Brigadier BDTD Jayarathna psc with the support and contribution of the 11th Battalion of the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment.

The primary objective of this initiative is to provide one of the most essential basic needs access to toilet facilities while promoting good health habits among the community. It also aims to raise awareness among all family members, including children, about the importance of proper sanitation practices.

Furthermore, the project seeks to minimize the common health problems and infectious diseases that arise due to the lack of sanitation facilities, particularly those affecting children and other vulnerable groups. Ultimately, this effort aspires to create a cleaner, healthier environment and contribute to the well-being of the next generation.
