Major General M Rizvi Razick RSP ndu assumes duties as the 36th General Officer Commanding of 51 Infantry Division

Major General M Rizvi Razick RSP ndu of the Commando Regiment ceremonially assumed duties as the 36th General Officer Commanding of the 51 Infantry Division Headquarters in Kopay on 18 October 2025. Upon his arrival at the Headquarters premises, the newly appointed General Officer Commanding was warmly received by the Staff Officers and accorded a Guard Turnout, followed by a ceremonial Guard of Honour, presented by troops of the 14th Battalion Gajaba Regiment.

Following the military honours, Major General M Rizvi Razick RSP ndu was accompanied to his office, where he officially assumed duties by signing a taking over document marking the commencement of his tenure. The occasion was dignified with religious blessings from clergy representing Buddhism, Christianity, Hinduism, and Islam, symbolizing unity and mutual respect. As a gesture of appreciation, pirikara and gifts were presented to the Maha Sangha and other religious leaders.

To mark the occasion and promote environmental awareness, Major General M Rizvi Razick RSP ndu planted a mango sapling at the Headquarters premises. Following this, the General Officer Commanding addressed all Officers and Other Ranks of the Division. During his address, he outlined his vision and strategic intent for the Division under his command, emphasizing unity, operational readiness, and the continued welfare of all personnel.

The day’s events were graced by the presence of Brigade Commanders, Staff Officers of the 51 Infantry Division, Commanding Officers, Officers, and Other Ranks, reflecting the collective support and commitment towards the new leadership.

Later, in the Conference Hall, the newly appointed General Officer Commanding was provided with a comprehensive operational briefing by the Divisional Staff Officers. The briefing covered the Division’s Area of Responsibility (AOR), current troops deployment, and key operational priorities and challenges within the region.

With his wealth of experience and proven leadership, Major General M Rizvi Razick RSP ndu is expected to guide the 51 Infantry Division towards continued excellence in all spheres of operational and administrative responsibilities.
