Mr. Inoshan Suran, currently residing in France, has accomplished an inspiring 10,000 kilometers cycling journey from Paris to Jaffna, traversing through 13 countries, including Germany, Turkey and India. Embarking on this remarkable expedition on 01 September 2025 under the theme “Paris to Jaffna”. He successfully reached Jaffna on 23 October 2025.
Under the guidance of the Commander Security Forces (Jaffna), Major General KAN Rasika Kumara ndc psc, Mr. Inoshan Suran’s extraordinary achievement was highly admired by the General Officer Commanding of the 51 Infantry Division, Major General M. Rizvi Razick RSP ndu, who warmly welcomed him to the Thalsevana Army Resort in Kankesanthurai. The troops of the 51 Infantry Division organized a heartfelt reception to honor his exceptional dedication, endurance and patriotism for Sri Lanka. The event reflected the broader vision of promoting reconciliation, tourism, and national harmony across the region, underscoring the Sri Lanka Army’s unwavering commitment to strengthening peace and fostering lasting bonds among all communities.
During his visit, Mr. Inoshan Suran paid tribute to Jaffna’s rich cultural and historical heritage. Reflecting on his journey, he emphasized that his mission was to showcase the Jaffna unique traditions but also to promote tourism, foster reconciliation and strengthen social and cultural ties between international communities and Sri Lanka. His endeavour highlighted the importance of unity, peace and cross cultural understanding while encouraging greater engagement with Jaffna as a vibrant and welcoming destination for both local and international visitors.
General Officer Commanding 51 Infantry Division commended Mr. Suran’s cross continental cycling venture as an inspiring testament to perseverance and patriotism, conveying his best wishes for Suran’s future endeavours.
