Reconstruction work of the bridge at the Kandawelei area on the A-35 road, which was damaged due to Cyclone Dithva, was carried out today (20 December 2025) under the supervision of the 55 Infantry Division.
For this task, a contingent comprising 01 x 16 soldiers from the 6 Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment, 02 x 22 soldiers from the 9 Sri Lanka Engineer Regiment, and 00 x 01 soldier from the Corps of Engineer Service Regiment were deployed. In addition, 00 x 03 personnel from the medical unit of the 52 Infantry Division and 14 officials from the Road Development Authority also took part.
They extended their assistance to a group of 04 x 38 representatives and engineers from the Indian Army, who are engaged in the construction of the new bridge.
