Under the supervision of the 55 Infantry Division, reconstruction work on the bridge at the Kandaweili area along the A-35 road, which was damaged due to Cyclone Dithva was carried out today (18 December 2025).
For this task, a contingent of 01 x 16 soldiers from the 6 Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment (6 SLSR), 02 x 20 soldiers from the 9 Sri Lanka Engineer Regiment (9 SLE), and 00 x 01 soldier from the Corps of Engineers Service (CES) contributed to the effort. In addition, 00 x 03 soldiers from the 52 Division’s Medical Corps and 14 members from the Road Development Authority provided assistance to a team of 03 x 40 soldiers representing the Indian Army and their engineers engaged in the bridge reconstruction work.
