Social Welfare Programme for The Distribution of School Items

With the noble intention of fostering reconciliation between the Sri Lanka Army and the Tamil community, and under the concept initiated by the General Officer Commanding of the 52 Infantry Division and under the direct supervision of Commander 523 Infantry Brigade, a programme was organized to distribute school items among children from selected low-income families within the 52 Infantry Division area. This initiative was generously sponsored by TDM International Limited.

Out of 661 children identified from such families, 100 students from J/Kaithadi Muththukumarswamy Maha Vidyalaya in the 11 Field Engineer Regiment area under the 523 Infantry Brigade and 100 students from J/Vidattapalai Kamalasani Vidyalaya in the 7 Battalion of the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment area, were provided with school items. This event was held on 12 September 2025 at the Chavakachcheri Cultural Hall.

The occasion was graced by the Commander Security Forces (Jaffna), Major General KAN Rasika Kumara ndc psc, together with the resource preson of Themiya De Mel Managing Director TDM International Limited, Rev. Fr. Rohitha Rodrigo the Rector of St. Peters College Colombo, Rev. Fr Amal Raj, General Officer Commanding 52 Infantry Division Major General MN Fernando RSP, Brigade Commander 523 Infantry Brigade Colonel HWMAC Fernando RSP, the Divisional Secretary Chavakachcheri, Mr. F.C. Sathyasodhi, the Deputy Zonal Director of Education Chavakachcheri, Mr. K. Kamal Rajan along with Commanding Officer of 11 Field Engineer Regiment Lieutenant Colonel DMRC Dunusingha psc and Commanding Officer 7 Battalion of the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment Major ALDR Arawwala psc, principles of respective schools, Staff Officers, Soldiers of respective battalions, teachers, students and parents
