Security Forces (Jaffna) Marks Its Twenty Eighth Anniversary

The Security Forces (Jaffna) marked its 28th Anniversary with a series of commemorative events. On 18 June, a Bodhi Pooja programme was held, followed by a tribute to the fallen War Heroes at the Palaly Monument on 19 June 2024. The Commander, Security Forces (Jaffna) Major General MGWWWMCB Wickramasinghe RWP RSP ndu psc, was honoured with a Guard Turnout and Guard of Honour at the Security Forces Headquarters premises.

On this special day, the Commander, Security Forces (Jaffna) awarded a cash prize to Mr. Channa Priyadarawansha, a civil waiter, to encourage his son, Chamad Dinupa. Master Chamad has achieved a remarkable academic milestone by ranking 22nd in the Kalutara District in the Information Technology stream, earning two ‘A’ grades and one ‘B’ grade in the 2023 G.C.E A/L examination.

The day’s event featured a troops address and all-ranks lunch. During his address, the Commander emphasized the importance of collective commitment, maintaining discipline at all levels, ensuring proper coordination for communication, and continuing to provide excellent and dedicated services. He highlighted the necessity of fostering outstanding relationships with civilians and implementing initiatives such as the CIMIC Park to promote harmony and understanding. Additionally, the Commander expressed his gratitude to the former Security Forces Commanders and the fallen War Heroes for their exceptional service in maintaining peace and harmony.

Concluding the day’s programme, a musical night was organized in an effort to boost morale and mental well-being and provide much-needed relaxation for the troops. The event was attended by the Commander, Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks of Headquarters, Security Forces (Jaffna), the Commander, Officers and Other Ranks of Logistics Command (Jaffna), and Commanding Officers, Officers and Other Ranks of the Affiliated Battalions.
