Major General MPNA Muthumala USP psc of Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment assumed duties as the 35th General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the Headquarters, 51 Infantry Division in Kopay on 02 December 2024.
The newly appointed General Officer Commanding of the 51 Infantry Division was warmly welcomed by Staff Officers on his arrival and honoured in a Guard Turnout and Guard of Honour presented by troops of 14th Battalion, the Gajaba Regiment.
Afterwards, the new GOC was invited to the office and placed his signature in an official document to mark the assumption of his duties, amidst 'Seth Pirith' chanting of the Maha Sanga. Subsequently, Major General MPNA Muthumala USP psc was invited to plant a mango sapling in the Headquarter, premises. Later on, the new GOC addressed all Officers and Other Ranks serving under the 51 Infantry Division and briefed his outline plan of action in days to come.
Brigade Commanders, Staff Officers of the 51 Infantry Division, Commanding Officers and Other Rankers were present during the day's event.
