Lecture on "Developing Mental Health Therapy and Courage of Military Personnel" Conducted by 55 Infantry Division

In the face of current social challenges, military personnel are increasingly confronted with a range of physical and psychological issues, including interpersonal conflicts, substance abuse, addiction to online gaming and desertion from service.

To address these challenges and enhance awareness, the 55 Infantry Division conducted a lecture on "Developing Mental Health Therapy and Courage of Military Personnel." This event was organized under the directives of Major General KAN Rasika Kumara ndc psc, Commander, Security Forces – Jaffna, and under the close supervision of Major General W M A B Wijekoon USP ndc, General Officer Commanding, 55 Infantry Division. The lecture took place at Nelum Piyasa on 10 September 2025.

The session was delivered by Captain JDUC Jayakodi, a psychologist from the Army Hospital, Narahenpita. The lecture covered a wide range of important topics, Gambling addiction, Substance abuse, Suicide prevention, Building a happy marital life, Financial management, Life skills development. 20 x 272 Officers and Other Ranks from the 55 Infantry Division, including personnel from the 551, 552, and 553 Infantry Brigades, as well as under command battalions and the 4 Military Intelligence Corps, participated in the session.

The lecture aimed to promote mental well-being, resilience, and awareness on critical life issues among military personnel, ultimately strengthening their capacity to face both personal and professional challenges.
