55 Infantry Division bid farewell to its 27th General Officer Commanding (GOC), Major General RKNC Jayawardene RSP ndc, on 19 November 2024, with the senior officer receiving a ceremonial salute after completing over one year of dedicated service with the Division.
The day’s programme commenced with the arrival of Major General RKNC Jayawardene RSP ndc, who received a Guard Turnout. A Colourful Guard of Honour was subsequently reviewed by the outgoing GOC in accordance with military traditions. Following this, he joined for the group photograph. The day’s event also included a Troop Address, which culminated with an All Ranks Tea.
