Commemoration Ceremony Held at Elephant Pass Commemorates Late Corporal Gamini Kularathna of The Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment War Hero

One of the most admired War Heroes in contemporary Sri Lanka, late Corporal Gamini Kularathna of the Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment who exactly 34 years ago laid his life for defence of Elephant Pass camp was recalled to memory in front of his statue at Elephant Pass premises during 14 July in fitting commemorative arrangements, organized by the 6 Battalion at Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment.

The Commander, Security Forces (Jaffna), Major General KAN Rasika Kumara ndc psc graced the ceremony as the Chief Guest and several other Senior Officers and close relatives of late Corporal Gamini Kularathna, joined the 34 death anniversary commemoration at the monument.

Initially, National anthem was played and the gathering participated in observances. Afterwards, Mounting of Vigil took place and a two-minute silence was observed in remembrance of fallen War Heroes. Moments later, day’s Chief Guest, Commander SFHQ (Jaffna) placed a floral wreath and saluted in memory of all fallen War Heroes and it was followed by Other Senior Officers and close relatives of late Corporal Gamini Kularathna, laid floral wreaths at the War Heroes monument at Elephant Pass statue premises.
