Major General KTP De Silva RSP ndu psc Commander, Security Forces Jaffna attended the 78th National Independence Day celebrations held on 4th February 2026 at the Northern Provincial Council Complex, Kaithady, Jaffna. Mr. N Vethanayahan - Honourable Governor of the Northern Province, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.
The ceremony was conducted with dignity and patriotic spirit, reflecting the unity, resilience, and pride of the nation. The presence of the Security Forces Commander added special significance to the occasion, symbolizing the unwavering commitment of the armed forces to safeguarding peace, harmony, and national sovereignty in the Northern Province.
The Government Agent of the Northern Province, along with civil dignitaries, senior officials, and community leaders, also participated. The programme included the hoisting of the National Flag, the National Anthem, cultural performances, and speeches promoting national unity and reconciliation. The event stood as a proud and glorious celebration, confirming the enduring partnership between the security forces and civil society in building a peaceful and prosperous future for Sri Lanka.
