Under the supervision of the 55 Infantry Division, troops of the Infantry Brigades and Battalions operating under its command conducted several community programs to provide relief to people affected by adverse weather conditions. These initiatives included cleaning contaminated wells to ensure access to safe drinking water and assisting in the restoration of damaged infrastructure.
On 8 December 2025, under the leadership of the Commanding Officer 11 (Volunteer) Gajaba Regiment, 40 dry-ration packs were distributed to 40 low-income families in the Skanda Puram Grama Niladhari Division. In addition, on 9 December 2025, a team of 01 officer with 5 soldiers from the 11 (Volunteer) Gajaba Regiment cleaned a well in the Anavilandankulam (East) Grama Niladhari Division.
A team of 01 officer with 07 soldiers from the 7 Sri Lanka Light Infantry Regiment cleaned a drinking-water well in the Anantha Puram (East) area of Kilinochchi, which had been contaminated due to flooding.
A team of 01 officer with 08 soldiers from the 14 Sri Lanka National Guard Battalion cleaned a drinking-water well in the Dharma Puram area of Kilinochchi, which had also been affected by recent floods.
Further, in response to damage caused to the A-35 road due to the recent adverse weather, repair work on the bridge in the Kandaweli area has now commenced under the supervision of the 55 Infantry Division. Accordingly, 01 officer with 10 soldiers from the 6 Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment, operating under the 553 Infantry Brigade, provided assistance to a group of 01 officer with 42 soldiers from Indian Army representatives and engineers who are engaged in the construction of the new bridge.
As community assistance operations advanced into their seventh consecutive day, troops of the 55 Infantry Division continued to display strong commitment to community welfare across the Jaffna Peninsula. Through sustained cleaning operations, support to public institutions and direct assistance to affected families, the Division remained dedicated to safeguarding the wellbeing of the civilian population and reinforcing community resilience as recovery efforts continued across the region.
