Troops of the 51 Infantry Division under Security Force Headquarters Jaffna continued Division led community assistance and civil military cooperation operations across the Jaffna Peninsula on 18 December 2025, marking the fourteenth consecutive day of sustained humanitarian engagement carried out amid prevailing adverse weather conditions in support of communities affected by Cyclone Dithwa. Despite challenging weather, all under command brigades remained fully committed to restoring essential services, rehabilitating public spaces, and supporting the daily living requirements of affected civilian populations within the Division area of responsibility.
Under the 511 Infantry Brigade, troops of the 15 Battalion Sri Lanka National Guard conducted a comprehensive cleaning programme at the flood affected Karunalayam Children’s Home in Kopay North, deploying 01 x 10 personnel to restore safe and hygienic living conditions for resident children and staff. The operation was executed amid adverse weather conditions, reflecting sustained commitment to humanitarian responsibilities despite environmental challenges.
Under the 512 Infantry Brigade, troops of the 17 Gemunu Watch carried out a focused cleaning and restoration programme at the Joint Flat Children’s Park in Gurunagar, deploying 01 x 15 troops to clear debris and rehabilitate the public recreational facility, thereby enhancing safety and usability for local communities affected by prolonged inclement weather.
Under the 513 Infantry Brigade, amid prevailing adverse weather conditions, troops of the 11 Sri Lanka Light Infantry extended essential assistance to flood affected communities by conducting a cleaning operation at the Araly Jetty area in Araly South. A dedicated team of 01 x 10 soldiers was deployed to restore operational cleanliness and improve accessibility, supporting coastal livelihoods and public safety within the brigade area of responsibility.
As community assistance operations progressed into their fourteenth consecutive day, troops of the 51 Infantry Division once again demonstrated firm dedication, professionalism, and operational resilience while operating under adverse weather conditions in service of the people of the Jaffna Peninsula. The Division remains resolutely focused on restoring essential services, safeguarding public wellbeing, and contributing decisively to sustained community recovery efforts following recent adverse weather events.
