51 Infantry Division Troops Continue to Support Community Restoration Efforts Across the Jaffna Peninsula

Troops of the 51 Infantry Division under Security Force Headquarters Jaffna continued their community assistance operations across the Jaffna Peninsula on 9 December 2025, marking the seventh consecutive day of uninterrupted CIMIC oriented activities as the Division worked alongside civilians affected by the recent adverse weather conditions. All three brigades under command remained committed to supporting essential community restoration tasks including well cleaning, school and hospital cleaning programmes and assistance to religious sites and flood affected households across the Division area of responsibility.

Under the 511 Infantry Brigade, troops of the 15 Sri Lanka National Guard Battalion cleaned a public well in J/198 Chunnakam Town Central with 01 officer and 10 soldiers supporting families affected by flood water in the area. Troops of the 9 (Volunteer) Sri Lanka Light Infantry Regiment carried out a cleaning programme at the GTM School children park and ground in J/254 Palali North, Anthonypuram, deploying 01 officer with 10 soldiers to restore the premises for community use and ensure a clean and safe environment for students and residents.

Under the 512 Infantry Brigade, troops of the 17 Gemunu Watch Regiment removed hazardous tree branches near a house at J/65 Ariyalai Centre, Malarmahal Veethy, ensuring the safety of the affected household and the surrounding community. Meanwhile, troops of the 14 Gajaba Regiment conducted a cleaning programme at Kondavil Hospital on Station Road, Kondavil with 01 officer and 10 soldiers supporting the restoration of the medical facility and improving sanitation for patients and staff.

Under the 513 Infantry Brigade, troops of the 10 Sri Lanka Artillery Regiment provided essential assistance to flood affected families in J/212 Mallakam, where a team of 01 officer with 10 soldiers supported residents in cleaning their houses following the heavy rains. In addition, troops of the 11 Sri Lanka Light Infantry Regiment conducted a cleaning programme at Murugamoorthi Kovil in J/178 Chankani, deploying 01 officer with 07 soldiers to clean the kovil premises, enabling the community to regain access to the religious site.

As community assistance operations advanced into their seventh` consecutive day, troops of the 51 Infantry Division continued to display strong commitment to community welfare across the Jaffna Peninsula. Through sustained cleaning operations, support to public institutions and direct assistance to affected families, the Division remained dedicated to safeguarding the wellbeing of the civilian population and reinforcing community resilience as recovery efforts continued across the region.
