Troops of the 51 Infantry Division under Security Force Headquarters Jaffna continued Division led community assistance and civil military cooperation operations across the Jaffna Peninsula on 15 December 2025, marking the twelfth consecutive day of sustained humanitarian engagement in support of communities affected by Cyclone Ditwah and prevailing adverse weather conditions. All under command brigades remained fully committed to restoring essential services, rehabilitating public institutions, and supporting the daily living requirements of affected civilian populations within the Division area of responsibility.
Under the 511 Infantry Brigade, troops of the 15 Battalion Sri Lanka National Guard conducted a comprehensive cleaning programme at the flood affected Chunnakam Nageshwari School in Chunnakam West, deploying 01 officer with 10 soldiers to restore safe and hygienic conditions for students and teaching staff. Concurrently, troops of the 9 (V) Sri Lanka Light Infantry Regiment facilitated uninterrupted access to clean drinking water for affected households in Antonypuram, Palali North, employing a battalion water bowser and 01 officer with 05 soldiers to distribute essential water supplies to the civilian population.
Under the 512 Infantry Brigade, troops of the 14 Battalion, the Gajaba Regiment executed a targeted cleaning programme at Muththuthambi Vidyalaya, Thirunelvely, with a dedicated team of 01 officer with 10 soldiers. The operation focused on clearing debris and restoring school premises for safe resumption of educational activities, demonstrating continued Division commitment to the welfare and education of local communities.
Under the 513 Infantry Brigade, troops of the 10 Sri Lanka Artillery provided essential support to flood affected coastal communities by assisting local residents in the cleaning and restoration of Sendakulam beach, Keeramalei, deploying a dedicated team of 01 officer with 10 soldiers to enhance environmental conditions and public wellbeing. Simultaneously, troops of the 11 Sri Lanka Light Infantry Regiment extended assistance for a second consecutive operation at Manippay Girls College, deploying 01 officer with 15 soldiers to clean and rehabilitate the school premises, ensuring a safe and conducive learning environment for students and staff.
As community assistance operations progressed into their twelfth consecutive day, troops of the 51 Infantry Division once again demonstrated resolute commitment, professionalism, and resilience in serving the people of the Jaffna Peninsula. The Division remains determinedly focused on restoring essential services, safeguarding public wellbeing, and contributing decisively to the ongoing community recovery effort in the aftermath of recent adverse weather conditions.
