51 Infantry Division Conducts Stationery Distribution Programme for School children in Karainagar

A school stationery distribution programme was successfully conducted as a Civil–Military Cooperation (CIMIC) activity for 120 Grade Five students representing 11 schools in the Karainagar area (GN Division J/43). The programme was held on Sunday, 04 January 2026 at the Cultural Hall, Karainagar.

The initiative was organised by the 11 Sri Lanka Light Infantry Battalion under the 513 Infantry Brigade, within the Area of Responsibility of 51 Infantry Division, under the overall guidance of Security Forces Headquarters (Jaffna). The programme aimed to support the educational needs of schoolchildren while strengthening military- civilian relations within the community. The event was sponsored by Sri Murugan Company, Kurunegala, demonstrating a strong partnership between the Sri Lanka Army and the civilian sector in promoting community welfare.

3During the programme, each of the 120 students received a complete stationery pack, which included a school bag and other essential learning materials, thereby supporting their academic activities for the forthcoming school year.

Major General MR Razick RSP ndu, the General Officer Commanding, 51 Infantry Division, attended the programme as the Chief Guest and highlighted the Sri Lanka Army’s continued commitment to educational development and community wellbeing in the region. Mr Suresh Murugan, owner of Sri Murugan Company, was also present, along with the principals of all participating schools. The ceremony witnessed the active participation of parents, guardians, and members of the local community, reflecting widespread appreciation and positive reception of the initiative.
