NEW INFRASTRUCTURE FACILITIES WERE CEREMONIALLY HANDED OVER TO 4 VIR TROOPS

A long time infrastructure requirement has been fulfilled with the opening ceremony of newly constructed Guard Room and Main Kitchen which was held in grand gesture on 16 June 2021 at 4th battalion Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment at Allarai, Chavakachcheri. Day’s Chief Guests General officer Commanding of 52 Infantry Division, Major General W H K S Peiris RWP RSP USP ndu and Commnder 523 Infantry Brigade, Brigadier S B W M N Samaradiwakara RSP USP cut the ribbons in an auspicious time marked ceremonial opening of the Main Kitchen and Guard Room respectively.

COVID-19 VACCINATION CAMPAIGN CONDUCTED AT RHQ VIR

RHQ VIR PREMISES ILLUMINATED WITH ATTRACTIVE 'VESAK' LANTERN

On the eve of the Vesak Full Moon Poya Day, the most important event for Buddhists its phenomenal significance, VIjayabahu Infantry Regimental Centre produced mammoth and multi-coloured ‘Vesak’ lantern at Regimental premises. Brigadier Sumal Hemarathna, the Centre Commandant of Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment switching on the lights in the presence of a few Officers and Other Ranks as dusk fell.

INTER BATTALION TENNIS TOURNAMENT HELD IN RHQ VIR

Inter Battalion Tennis Tournament 2021 Finals organized by 18 VIR ceremonially commenced with the patronage of Colonel of the Regiment VIR, Major General Sisira Pilapitiya, on 08 April 2021 at Regimental Centre sport complex with the gracious presence of Centre Commandant of the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment, Brigadier Nalin Bandaranayake. 12 battalions competed for the reign of Tennis on 06, 07 and 08 April 2021, following COVID-19 health guidelines by the organizers.

Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment, one of the most prestigious and battle-hardened fighting units of the Sri Lanka Army, following its’ traditions and military formalities with the blessings of the Colonel of the Regiment, Major General Sisira Pilapitiya, commemorated its 31st anniversary on 22 March 2021 in a fitting ceremony, held at the VIR Regimental Centre at Boyagane, Kurunegala, giving pride of place to military formalities by adhering all the health precautions and guidelines stipulated to prevent COVID-19 outbreak.

‘PIRITH’ CHANTING & ‘HEEL DAANA’ AT RHQ VIR TO BLESS 31st REGIMENTAL ANNIVERSARY

The all-night ‘Pirith’ chanting, a customary religious feature, organized by the Vijayabahu Infantry Regimental Centre on account of the forthcoming 31st Regimental Day (22 March) got underway on 18 March 2021 (Thursday), evening at the Vijayabahu Infantry Regimental Centre premises by adhering all the guidelines that stipulated to prevent the COVID-19 pandemic. The chanting follows offer of ‘Heel’ Daana (alms) on the following day (19).
