NEW STAFF OFFICER I (LOGISTICS) ASSUMES DUTIES

Lieutenant Colonel S S Weerawickrama RSP assumed office as the 6th Staff Officer I (Logistics) of Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment (VIR) on 10 June 2021 during a brief ceremony at the VIR Regimental Headquarters, Boyagane, Kurunegala.

Lieutenant Colonel Sudeera Weerawickrama was enlisted to the Sri Lanka Army Regular Force as an Officer Cadet on 01 December 1997 to the Officer Cadet Intake BMA 4. After successful completion of the basic military training, he was commissioned in the rank of Second Lieutenant on 19 June 1999 and posted to the 1st Battalion the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment (1 VIR). He has held many command appointments in unit line such as Platoon Commander, Adjutant and Company Commander. He has served in the Vijayabahu Infantry Regimental Centre in the capacities of General Staff Officer II (Training & Sports), Mess Manager and Second in Command of Regimental Institute Wing. He has held the appointment of Second in Command of 8th Battalion the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment (8 VIR) and subsequently commanded the 7th Battalion the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment (7 VIR).
